Distance Learning

The following are a number of online course providers with course offerings geared to architects and interior designers, often free of charge to the user. 

AEC Daily
AEC Daily is one of the largest online providers of free continuing education courses to the architectural, interior design, construction and engineering community. Visit the AEC Daily website for more information and a complete list of their course offerings.
Note:  AEC Daily provides the AAA with a monthly User Report which is used to update member transcripts.  

America Training Solutions
America Training Solutions offers a variety of free online courses targeted at the design community.  Visit their website for more information and a complete list of their course offerings which includes online courses and webinars.  

Architectural Record's CE Center
The Architectural Record magazine - part of BNP Media - has an extensive online library of free educational articles, webinars and multimedia courses posted each month on design-related topics. Athabasca University
The following courses are available through the RAIC Centre,  Athabasca University:
     - Architectural Practice In Canada (Architecture 645) -  This course will permit the student to become familiar with the various stakeholders involved in the design and construction of buildings and their relationship to the architect.
     - Architectural Practice Management (Architecture 655) - This course provides the necessary skill sets that architects use in the development of a successful practice.

Building Code Tutor
*New modules added
The Building Code Tutor is an online educational program developed by Muniak Enterprises Inc. The program consists of a series of 2 volumes with 12 modules in Volume 1 and 13 modules in Volume 2.  The modules address the fire and life safety requirements of Part 3 of the building code.  Modules can be purchased individually or the entire volume can be purchased at a discounted price. Canada Wood Council

The Canada Wood Council has assembled an education program that provides current  information about wood materials, design and applications. A full listing of their free courses can be found on their website.
