Tom Sutherland Award

Well-renowned local architect, long-time AAA member and Firm Managing Principal at Dialog Design, Tom Sutherland, died in a tragic ski accident on April 2, 2015. He had been vacationing in Fernie, B.C., with his wife, Sandi, and their four children.

The AAA created an award in Tom Sutherland‘s honour. Every year, the award honours and recognizes a member of the AAA who exemplifies exceptional leadership qualities within the architectural or interior design sector in Alberta, advances the profession, and demonstrates extraordinary service to the community. These are the qualities personified by Mr. Sutherland.

Tom’s family accepted the inaugural award on his behalf in the spring of 2017. Mr. L. Fredrick Valentine is the first recipient and was presented with the award at the 2018 Banff Session.
