Is there any way for an owner, landlord and tenant to view online the status and information submitted relating to a building permit application with the City of Edmonton?
Regardless of any online tools that may be made available by a jurisdiction regarding the approval status or documents submitted for a building permit application, it is expected that the coordinating registered professional also operating as the registered architectural professional and/or registered licensed interior designer professional would maintain all information relating all permit submissions and be able to make such information available to their client and client representatives. Since the owner or owner's representative is a co-signatory on the A1 and A2 Schedules of Professional Involvement, it is expected that a coordinating architect or licensed interior designer should be sharing all related drawing information with the owner and the owner's representatives at the time they are coordinating the signing and sealing of these certificates. It is not the responsibility of the permitting authority to maintain coordinated information relating to a building permit on behalf of the coordinating registered professional.
The
City of Edmonton posts various permitting information including
current building permit activity and information on
secondary suite locations. Additional permit information is also available at
Edmonton Maps. An owner and an owner's authorized agent may view the status of an individual permit application online through each project's Self Serve dashboard, which stores communications, invoices, various reports, as well as the reviewed-for-permit drawings. If the permit applicant chooses to privately share the login and password with a tenant, then the tenant may view this information as well.
