Nooshin Esmaeili

Nooshin is a Registered Architect with the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA). After graduating from the University of Calgary Faculty of Environmental Design (EVDS), known today as SAPL, with the Master of Architecture, Nooshin began working in various offices focusing on commercial, mixed-use, and residential design projects. Nooshin has always been interested and intrigued by the “quality” and the “spirit” of place. She has always been in search to understand the difference between transcendental spaces compare to others where one feels indifferent and uncomfortable and are bland to the human senses and feelings. In 2020, Nooshin returned to SAPL, to pursue her research interest as a Master of Environmental Design Student. Nooshin aims to explore the world of architecture and allied disciplines in a search for an interplay of self-awareness with spatial constructions. Her research will mainly focus on the concept of “Flow and Unity” through the lens of mysticism to connect the world within (self) and without (world). She seeks to investigate the design of buildings that prove timeless and that touch all individuals who experience the architecture despite their religion, backgrounds, language, or ethnicity.

I am grateful for all those with whom I have had the pleasure to work with. They all provided me extensive personal and professional guidance and taught me a great deal in my career path and life in general. I would like to thank Yasmin Tejpar, Suman Chakraborty, Amina Oyakhilome, for all their encouragements, Leanne Soligo for showing me how to be a strong woman, my mentors Dr. Brian Sinclair, Peter Schulz, and Ali Famili for their thoughtfulness and guiding me to where I am today and whom I have lots of respect for. I would like to express my special appreciation and thanks to my parents and family, whose love is with me in whatever I pursue. Most importantly, I wish to thank my loving and supportive husband, for believing in me and being beside me through this journey every step of the way. Finally, I like to thank my spiritual teacher, Professor Nader Angha, for all his guidance and unending love that has shed light on my path and guided me through times of doubt, exhaustion, and uncertainty.
