Syllabus Students

The Alberta Association of Architects (AAA) supports and recognizes the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) Syllabus Program and its affiliated degree programs BSc (Arch) and Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Architecture (PBDA) at the RAIC Centre for Architecture at Athabasca University.

Syllabus Students in Training (SSIT) may become members of the AAA upon entering Part 2 of the RAIC Syllabus Program and submitting a completed Syllabus Student Application. SSIT membership with the AAA is equivalent to AAA Student Membership in terms of benefits, however SSIT are required to pay AAA membership dues.

Syllabus Students are required to complete the CERB in accordance with the provisions of Appendix B.

Those who have already completed the Syllabus Program but are not AAA members must apply to the IAP. They are then required to submit the 3720 hours. The AAA does not review the first 6000 hours, only hours after registering as a Syllabus Student, and 940 hours required after you register as an Intern Architect.

It must be specified which of these hours fall under the three categories and 17 sections required by the IAP/CERB.
