Who can vote?
Any voting member (Registered Architects, Licensed Interior Designers, and Active Life Members) may cast one vote for each member to be elected to Council, up to the maximum number of available positions. Voting members may also choose to not cast a vote. The voting system automatically denies access to those who are not eligible to vote.
If I live abroad, can I still vote?
As long as you are a voting member of the AAA and you have access to the AAA website, you have the ability and right to vote.
Why can't I vote for the President or Treasurer?
Members of the AAA do not elect the President or Treasurer, similar to government process. Instead, these positions are elected among the Councillors at the June Council meeting.
How many votes are required to be the winning candidates?
There are no minimum number of votes required. Majorities are voted in.
Do I have to use a specific internet browser to access the voting system?
Some system functionality may not operate properly when using later versions of Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge. If you experience problems, please try logging in using a different browser (i.e. Google Chrome).
Where is the voting system located?
The voting system is on the AAA website (during open voting only) which is tied to our member database. Voting members must use their individual member I.D. and password to log into the voting system. Access will be denied if trying to log on using a firm number.
How do I log into the system?
Logging into the AAA website to access the online voting system can be done in a few easy steps:
- Select an election link via the home page of the AAA website,
- When prompted, enter your individual member ID login info into the appropriate spaces and select "Sign In" (do not use your firm or company ID),

- If you are an eligible voting member you will be automatically directed to the online voting system.
How will I know who to vote for?
All members standing for election to Council are listed on the online voting system along with their bios. Candidate bios can also be found on the
Meet the Candidates page on our website.
How do I cast my vote?
Voting members will have the option to select up to the maximum number of candidates for the positions available OR they may choose the “I do not wish to cast a vote” checkbox. Voters will not be able to complete the voting process without choosing one of the options. Also, if a voter chooses more candidates than the maximum allowed, an error message will appear.
Is the voting system secure and is my confidentiality maintained?
The system is linked to the member database and will only accept one voting response per member I.D. Each of the candidates are tied to an encrypted code. This means that when a member casts a ballot, each ballot for that candidate is tied to their code. All votes are also encoded to ensure voter confidentiality. Only decrypted candidate codes and vote tallies are made available to the election scrutineers after voting closes.
What if I encounter technical issues with the voting system?
If you have trouble logging onto the system or encounter any other issues, please send a detailed email to
Sheila Nitti, Executive Assistant.
